Martha Karua accused the State House of giving lame excuse as to why President Ruto launched same road twice.

Narc Kenya Party leader as dismissed the explanation given by State House regarding the relaunching of the Captain-Ndemi-Wanjohi-Kwa Matu-Geta-Kahuruko-Ndunyu Njeru road after five years.

The project was first initiated in 2018 by William Ruto, then deputy president, and stalled for five years; it's on Thursday, April 6, 2023 that Ruto, now president, relaunched it saying it would be completed in a short while.

However, the government defended the relaunch saying the project was frustrated by the handshake regime under former president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In a statement on Friday, April 7, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed explained that the road stalled after being deliberately denied funding during the previous regime and therefore needed to be relaunched.

“During the ‘Handshake’ (2018-2022), many projects he launched were deliberately denied funding even though they were in the government's programme. This was to frustrate the then Deputy President and his bid for the presidency,” he explained.

Karua in her argument termed the State House explanation as deceptive, wondering why the relaunch did not complement the initial one.
