National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi have been slammed after calling for peace and stability in Sudan.

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi has chastised National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi after they called for peace and stability in Sudan.

Wetangula on Saturday urged the African Union (AU) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to monitor events in Sudan with extreme caution noting that peace and stability in Sudan is important for the region’s security.

“The leadership of IGAD/AU must monitor the unfolding events in the Sudan with extreme caution. Peace & stability in Sudan is important for our sub-regional & regional security and should be assisted to flourish by whatever means necessary,” he stated.

Kingi on his part asked parties involved in the crisis to embrace dialogue for the sake of peace and the welfare of Sudan Citizens.

“The unfolding crisis in Sudan has, inevitably, sparked alarm and concern within our region where elimination of armed conflict and peaceful co-existence remains one of the top priorities for governments and parliaments. We implore the parties concerned to immediately cease hostilities and embrace dialogue for the sake of peace and welfare of citizens,” Kingi stated.

The two speaker’s calls for peace in Sudan were however slammed by Atandi who accused them of being quiet on matters affecting Kenya.

“Speakers of both houses Hon Moses Wetangula Amason Kingi are the biggest KK hardliners despite their recent history in opposition. Both have called for peace & stability in Sudan. In Kenya, they are agents of impunity, running Parliament like departments of State House,” said Atandi.

He added, “Interesting that Kenya Kwanza hardliners are calling for peace & stability in the neighboring Sudan but here in Kenya, shareholders are eating everything shamelessly.”
