Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi has poked holes in the plan by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua to send Kenyan police officers to Haiti.

In a statement via Twitter on Sunday, April 23, Ahmednassir slammed CS Mutua over the move saying it needs cabinet and parliament approval.

“Waziri has no idea how powerful these gangs are...and I thought sending our soldiers/policemen to foreign countries needs cabinet and parliamentary approval...or things are different nowadays,” he posed.

Mutua in a statement on Saturday night stated that Kenyan police officers would assist in stabilizing Haiti.

“We reviewed Haiti's situation where gangs have made towns & peoples' lives unbearable. In this regard, Kenya has offered to send police officers to assist in stabilizing the country. Canada is one of the nations at the forefront in supporting Haiti’s process towards stability,” said Mutua.

He made the statement after a meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly. The two leaders also agreed to partner on issues of development, dignity, and global stability.

“It was evident from our conversation that Kenya & Canada are strong partners and friends with a similar outlook to issues of development, human dignity & global stability,” he added.
