Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has claimed that Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga is trying to join the government by using demos.

Speaking on Saturday, April 22 during President William Ruto's tour to Meru, Kiraitu stated that Raila always tries to find a way to join the government.

“Raila is always a government person. He is in the opposition but always in government. He used to oppose Moi but later joined KANU and was given the secretary general position, in Kibaki’s government he was the Prime Minister and during Uhuru’s regime he was given a handshake.

“There are no demonstrations he is doing, he is applying for a position in the government,” said Kiraitu.

He urged National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah to hurry up in creating the office of the Leader of the Official Opposition.

“Hurry up in establishing that office, so that he can get a position and anti-government protests come to an end,” he told Ichung’wah.

Kiraitu at the same time thanked President  Ruto for giving him a government position and vowed not to never betray him again.

“I thank the President because even though he does not see me regularly, he has made me the chairman of the National Oil Corporation,” said Kiraitu.

He added, “Sorry, I was the one who was wrong, I tried to drive MBUS to somewhere but we got stuck. President Ruto has helped us to move from where we were stuck and we are now in the right direction. I want to assure him we will walk with him together and I won't betray him.
