In Photos: Situation Across the Country as Schools Reopen

Primary and secondary schools across the country have officially been re-opened after nine months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all students and teachers as they resume in-person learning.

Photos seen by Nairobi Leo indicate that most schools have designated areas for screening, where students and teachers have their temperature checked before entering the school premises.

Across all schools, learners must have masks before accessing the school. The situation is the same for teachers.

In most schools, social distance among learners has not been achieved.

Some schools have set temporary isolation centres for any student who shows symptoms of the virus.

Speaking at Olympic Primary in Kibera, Nairobi while overseeing the resumption of learning, Ministry of Education CS Prof George Magoha noted that other than social distancing, all other things are normal.

"Apart from overcrowding everything else is normal. Every child is masked and most of the masks were provided by the govt of Kenya. We shall also give another 140 desks to this school," he said.
