“The mood out there is that the bill is a make-or-break point. This bill can actually spark a serious revolution in this country that will never end."

National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi has opined that the controversial Finance Bill 2023 will spark a revolution in Kenya.

Speaking on Wednesday, June 14 at the National Assembly, Wandayi said that poor Kenyans have heard enough from the government and if the finance bill is passed they would start a revolution.

“The mood out there is that the bill is a make-or-break point. This bill can actually spark a serious revolution in this country that will never end. It will be a revolution led by the poor hustlers because they have heard enough of lies and chest-thumping,” said Wandayi.

He added, “The hour of reckoning has now come and as we stand here to please our masters out there, the greater masters are the people who voted for us not those who are watching us now.”

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui termed the bill as a bill drum of poison and the amendment of some sections of the bill by the Finance and planning committee is like putting a spoon of sugar in a drum of poison.

“This is the most contagious finance bill since I was elected in 2013. I look at it like a drum of poison, when I listen to the mover and seconder, they have mentioned some amendments they are proposing, it is like saying that they have put a teas spoon of sugar in a drum of poison,” said Mbui.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma on his part said if the bill is passed by the National Assembly it would be the MPs who will be blamed by Kenyans.
