The terrorists are said to have attacked a police station in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Two police officers and a teacher have been killed in a suspected Al-Shabaab attack in Wargadud Mandera County.

The attack was made on a police station in Wargadud before they hit the Iresuki area destroying two communication masts.

The attacks are said to have occurred in the wee hours of Friday morning around 2 am.

The suspected terrorists are said to have first destroyed a Safaricom mast to cut communication before raiding the station.

During the attack, the suspected militia group is said to have disappeared with a police Landcruiser.

"Two police officers and one teacher were killed in a Wargadud attack. Two telecommunication masts located in Wargadud and Iresuki were destroyed," a police officer aware of the attack said.

Safaricom communication masts destroyed during the attack.

The attack comes in the wake of increasing attacks in the North Eastern region.

These attacks are said to have been made by Al-Shabaab militia, a move that led to the government suspending the reopening of the Kenya-Somali border.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has assured that the government will deal with the Al-Shabaab firmly until they are completely vanquished.

Barely two weeks ago, Police killed 20 al-Shabaab militia in an attack that saw some weapons recovered.

But since then, the Al-Shabaab have been conducting pockets of retaliatory attacks in Lamu and North Eastern regions.
