The helicopter was carrying officials who had accompanied  CS Aden Duale to Baringo. 

A Kenya Air Force Fennec helicopter on Thursday, July 11 crashed at Chemolingo Stadium in Baringo County minutes after taking off.

KDF in a statement stated that the helicopter crashed after it hit a tree as it was taking off to go to Nairobi.

All passengers who were in the plane disembarked safely and are in a stable position.

“This evening, a Kenya Air Force, Fennec helicopter, while taking off from Chemlingot stadium en route to Nairobi, hit a tree and crashed. All passengers disembarked safely and are in stable condition,” KDF stated.


One brigadier, pilot, and two other soldiers who were in the chopper sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

The helicopter was carrying officials who had accompanied Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on a security tour in Tiaty, Baringo County. 

in June 2021 another KDF helicopter crashed in Oltepesi, Kajiado County during a routine training. One Kenya Air Force personnel died while thirteen others sustained injuries.
