Kenya Power has issued a statement regarding the difficulty most Kenyans are facing in the purchase of electricity tokens.

Many Kenyans have raised concerns that they are unable to purchase tokens. 

Kenya Power has however announced that there is a technical hitch that is being worked on.

"We are experiencing a hitch on the Prepaid system which is affecting the generation of electricity tokens," Kenya Power statement said in part.

"We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Kenya Powers' prepaid system works in such a manner that one has to first pay for electricity before he or she is given a code that will be loaded on the power meter.

The amount of token depends with the amount pone pays.

The Power metre is a customer interface unit that has a screen resembling that of a mobile phone which allows customers to manage their power consumption the same way they manage credit units for their mobile phones.
