The nationwide blackout occurred at around 7:30 PM on Saturday night.

The Kenya Power and Lightning Company (KPLC) has issued an update on power restoration after a power outage was witnessed across the country on Saturday, November 11 night. 

In a statement via X, the electricity utility company reported that it has restored power in sections of Mt Kenya Region, Nyanza, Western, and North Rift by 10:00 pm. 

In another update at 11:57 pm, the company said it had also restored power supply across most parts of the country including sections of Central Rift, South Nyanza, and Nairobi.

“We have restored power supply to most parts of the country with many sections of Central Rift, South Nyanza, and Nairobi back up,” the update read in part.

Kenya Power also noted that it has commenced a supply restoration for the Coast region and other remaining areas in the country.

The country faced the blackout at around 7:30 PM on Saturday night forcing Kenyans to go to social media to raise concerns on the issue.

KPLC is yet to announce the cause of the nationwide power outage.

On Friday, August 25, the country also experienced a power outage for an entire night which extended to the better part of Saturday, August 26.

KPLC board chairperson linked the blackout to power loss at Turkana power station, affecting the supply across the country.
