“It's unfortunate that some busybodies led by Makau Mutua have set ‘maandamano’ as a standard to measure loyalty or respect granted to individuals in Azimio."

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has maintained that he is firmly in the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

In a statement on his X handle on Wednesday, December 13, Kioni told off Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua after he dared Kamwene allied politicians to stage demonstrations in the Mt Kenya region.

“It's unfortunate that some busybodies led by Makau Mutua have set ‘maandamano’ as a standard to measure loyalty or respect granted to individuals in Azimio. A process in which many Kenyans lost their leaves fighting for a better Kenya,” said Kioni.

He added, “We are firmly remain in Azimio to stay. Get back to me on substantive issues.”

His statement comes after Mutua told Azimio politicians dissatisfied with the National Dialogue Committee to quit the Raila Odinga-led coalition.

"Azimio isn’t a forced marriage. Please leave if you can’t support the NADCO report which is the product of the party’s agreed democratic processes," he wrote on his X handle.

The Azimio spokesperson also mentioned he will take Kioni and the Kamwene faction seriously if they stage protests in Mt Kenya.

“I will take my brother Hon Kioni seriously when he and his Kamnwene siblings organize Maandamano in the Mountain,” Mutua stated.

Kioni on Monday responded to Mutua saying they are not in the Azimio coalition under his invitation.

The former Ndaragwa MP is among the Azimio politicians who have openly rejected the NADCO report, saying it did not address key issues affecting Kenyans.
