Omtatah was coming from the Busia Law Courts when he was attacked.

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah was on Friday, March 22 attacked by goons moments after leaving the Busia Law Courts.

Addressing the media after the incident, Omtatah said he was passing through the Busia County Assembly when a group of youth started pelting stones at his car.

The Busia Senator noted that his vehicle was damaged during the attack but they managed to run to the Busia Agricultural Training College (ATC) for refuge.

"When I was leaving the court, passing near the county assembly, I encountered a group of young people who started throwing stones at my car. I don't think it's just that the young people were walking and then met me and started throwing stones,” said Omtatah

He added, "The car was hit, one window was broken and one side dented. Because this car is a Pro Box type, it is tough and doesn't get heavily damaged, but we escaped and went to the agricultural training center."

The first-term senator claimed that the goons were sent by Busia Governor Paul Otuoma because of a case he filed against the Busia County government.

Omtatah said he won’t be deterred by the Incident vowing to push the case against the county until he gets justice.

"They threw stones at me because they were sent, and since my case involves me and the governor, I am not worried that it is the governor who sent those young people to throw stones at me. What has happened is against the law and it will not intimidate me.

“I have seen bigger things than this, they should know that they will not stop me. I was elected by the people of Busia to ensure that their money does not disappear and will not disappear,” Omtatah added.

The attack comes weeks after Senator Omtatah was involved in an accident in Kisumu on his way to Busia.

He disclosed that the accident happened after a trailer lost control after the brakes failed and hit his vehicle. Omtatah who was with his driver, survived the accident without sustaining any injuries.
