In an update via Twitter, Blinken stated that he was glad to be in Kenya, and he was looking forward to meeting government officials.

"Looking forward to meeting with government officials and civil society to discuss our shared interests and affirm our strategic partnership."

According to State Department, Blinken will engage with Kenyatta on issues pertaining to regional security, clean energy, pandemic, and matters around the protection of the environment.

The East Africa region has been hit hard on security matters. Ethiopia Tigray's conflict is worsening, threatening the nation's stability and the terror twin attacks in Kampala CBD near the parliament buildings and the Central Police Station in Uganda.
