The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has sealed borders and airports in the country in search of a billionaire over unpaid taxes.

According to a reports, the billionaire who is also a Jubilee Party financier is wanted over the failure to pay over Ksh2.2 billion in taxes despite government and military contracts.

KRA issued a notice to all borders and airports including the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to prevent Mary Wambui Mungai from leaving the country.

She skipped court where she was to answer for the failure to pay taxes between 2014 and 2020.

Wambui was also accused of failing to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in June saying that she was in Zambia for undisclosed business.

She also failed to appear before the taxman on December 3, raising fears that she may flee the country.

Her lawyer, Felix Kombo appeared before the anti-corruption court chief magistrate on Monday, December 6, and said she has been hospitalised since November 29.

However, no medical records were provided to support the claim.
