President William Ruto will lead the country is marking Mashujaa Day.

Thousands of Kenyans on Thursday, October 20, thronged the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi to mark Mashujaa Day .

According to photos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, thousands of Kenyans were already seated at the venue by 10 a.m. ahead of the start of the national celebrations.

Various entertainment groups filled the venue with song and dance as the police were spotted doing patrol inside the venue.


A number of leaders had already started streaming into the venue, with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas Rigathi already in the venue.

President William Ruto, who will preside over his first national event, was yet to make his way into Uhuru Gardens.

Controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna arrived at the venue after jetting back into the country from exile on Thursday morning.

On Monday, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said that 22,000 members of the public and VIPs will attend the celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.

He said that the National Celebrations Committee had spared no effort in preparing for the event.


"All is set for the Uhuru Gardens event and the 22,000 members of the public and VIP expected attendees will witness an occasion that befits the memory and honor of the day," Kibicho said.

Mashujaa Day is marked on the 20th of every October in honour of the country's heroes.

Other than the national celebration at Uhuru Gardens, it is also celebrated across all the counties in the country, led by county governors.
