The first lady is in the county on an official tour.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Saturday, November 12, landed in Mombasa county for an official visit.

To receive the first lady was Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif who was excited to have his county playing host to her for the first time since occupying the state house.

"Welcoming the first lady Mama Rachel Ruto to Mombasa. I received our First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto at the Moi International Airport ahead of her official visit to our county. Karibu Mombasa Mama wa Taifa!" said the county boss.

Despite being elected on an opposition outfit (ODM) ticket, Abdulswamand has shown forth his commitment to partnering with the national government.

Besides the first lady, the governor has been host to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who has been unforgiving of the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

In his latest tour of Mombasa, the deputy president rallied the governor behind the national government for the benefit of the coastal county's people.

The deputy president is on record wooing the governors elected on opposition political outfit(s) to forge their leader and work with the President William Ruto-led administration.
