"Kutoka leo idara  yoyote ya serikali ntaona imeweka advertisement kwa Nation Media, mjihesabu mko nyumbani."

Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has fired a warning shot at the Government agencies saying whoever will advertise with the Nation Media Group will be shown the door.

The comments by Kuria come in the wake of back-to-back hard-hitting stories run by NMG that have somewhat left President William Ruto's government with an egg on the face.

In a rejoinder to a recent oil exposé that placed CS Kuria and his agriculture counterpart Mithika Linturi at the heart of a deal believed to have cost Kenyans billions of losses in taxes, Kuria fired a series of nasty words against the media company.

The escalation of his tirades at the company was with a message restricting the government not to advertise with the media house.

"Nation Media, Muamue kama nyinyi ni gazeti, broadcasting house, media house ama chama cha upinzani. Na mimi nimesema, Kutoka kesho, ata si kutoka kesho. Kutoka leo idara yoyote ya serikali ntaona imeweka advertisement kwa Nation Media, mjihesabu mko nyumbani," he said.

The CS was speaking at the annual Akorino Prayers in Embu County on Sunday.

In a series of other tweets, the CS fired unprintable words at the NMG reiterating that the government won't consider the media house for adverts.

He however said they will not stop other adverts from being run at NMG.

"You can still advertise auctioneers and funeral announcements. We will not stop those," the CS said.

The announcement by the CS could be a blow to the media house if his remarks come to pass.

Government adverts are one of the major sources of revenue for many media houses as some of the adverts are required by law to be put in local newspapers.

This could mean that the government might consider other available papers for the adverts, a move that could deal Nation a blow in revenue collection.

According to the NTV expose, government officials engineered losses in the importation of edible oils. The expose further states that Kenyans lost Sh5.6 billion in taxes to well-connected individuals.
