The wife of Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino is demanding the release of her husband who she said is being held at a police station in Kirinyaga county.

Fridah Ongili, in a video shared on Babu Owino's social media handles, claimed the husband was first detained at JKIA  on Tuesday evening before he was taken to Wanguru police station.

"He called me yesterday (Tuesday) at 11 pm saying he has been arrested. He said he is going to call me again but that has not happened since his phone went off," she said.

Fridah said she woke up Wednesday and started searching for him everywhere including at the DCI headquarters and Muthaiga Police Station but she could not find him.

She said the police referred her to JKIA again but she still could not trace him.

"I was given information that he is in Wanguru police station in Mwea that is why I am here. He is definitely here because there is a lady who took me aside. I begged them I need my husband to give him food and medicine because he was not feeling well on Monday, but they took me outside the police station," she said.

Fridah appealed to the government and ODM leader Raila Odinga to free Babu Owino saying she has done nothing wrong to warrant wrong.

“Let my husband be free as he has done nothing to be arrested. He is unwell and he deserves visitations by family and lawyers,” she pleaded.

She said there could be plans to transfer him to another police station after his whereabouts were traced to Kirinyaga.
