Junet was alleged to have poked holes in the Azimio demonstrations which he allegedly claimed would not help his leader Raila Odinga.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has distanced himself from assertions that he downplayed the anti-government protests called by Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.

A viral digital card bore a statement believed to have been made by the lawmaker.

According to the card, Junet called on the Raila-led side to employ other strategies to win power in the 2027 vote.

"The truth is we lost election. That is why I'm finding it hard to trust that demonstrations would get us to state house. We need a different strategy if we are to win in 2027," read the card.

The lawmaker would however come out to disown the statement.

Via Twitter, Junet flagged it as fake.

Junet has been missing in Azimio rallies for a while.

Prior to the last year's elections, the lawmaker was on the forefront championing a possible Raila presidency.

The Azimio loss in the presidential loss would see him take a back seat in the national politics.

Despite being one of Raila's chief lieutenants, the legislator has been missing in Azimio meetings lately.

He has however maintained his vocality in the National Assembly.

He had worked in the Azimio campaign secretariat ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, the opposition has announced resumption of the demos on Wednesday, July 26.

The coalition had called for a three-day mass action between July 19 and 21.

At the centre of the protests are calls for the government to address the biting cost of living.
