“How did you import oil without an import permit?" 

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has weighed in on the controversy surrounding oil tycoon Ann Njoroge after she allegedly disappeared after presenting herself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

Njoroge was reported missing last week after Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir directed her to record a statement at the DCI over the ownership dispute of Ksh 17 billion fuel with two oil companies, Galana Energies Limited and Ramco. 

The Oil tycoon's woes began when she applied for a permit at the Energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) for her oil import consignment to be cleared.

Miguna in an update on Tuesday November 14 wondered why Njoroge imported oil without an import permit.

The vocal lawyer went on to say Njoroge should be charged together with her associates.

“How did you import oil without an import permit? Why would you go to see the Energy CS to ask for an import permit? Why would you do that after the oil had docked? This crook should be charged - together with all her associates,” Miguna stated.

Addressing the media earlier, Njoroge explained that she went missing after presenting herself to the DCI.

She explained that she asked to move to another office to write another statement when two officers put her in a car and drove towards Kiambu Road.

"I was told to go to another office to write another statement, but upon arrival, I realized it wasn't an office. Two officers asked if I was on medication. I questioned them whether we were at the right place or if it was about medication.

“They just told me to follow them, and if I needed any medication, I should let them know. I was instructed to give them my phone and password, and I did as told. Then I was put into a car," she explained.

According to the oil tycoon, she was then blindfolded and put into another vehicle and was taken to an undisclosed location, and put in a room with a mattress and a chain.

The billionaire noted that she was set free after officers interrogated her and told her she had committed no offense.

“I was transported and dumped somewhere before my lawyer took me from there," she added.
