Uhuru was received by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Retired president on Sunday, November 19, joined Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for a fundraiser at a church in Mwingi, Kitui county. 

Uhuru landed in Mwingi in the morning and was received by the Wiper leader before heading to the latter's residence for a brief meeting.

The former president would then preside over a brief tree-planting session in the company of the local leaders.

Other principals present were DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa and ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta was in Kitui for a church fundraiser.

"Former President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta is in Ukambani today, for the fundraiser of Full Gospel Church, Mwingi. He has been welcomed by H.E Kalonzo Musyoka," an insider posted.

This would be the first time Uhuru is spotted in public for the first time after many months.

He was last seen with the Azimio honchos on July 28 this year at an interdenominational service called in Nairobi by the Opposition in honour of Kenyans killed in the anti-government protests.

The former President in a video seen by Nairobi Leo drove himself to the SKM centre for the prayers.

He was received by ODM Leader Raila Odinga, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi.

Uhuru contributed Ksh 1 million to the victims of the Azimio anti-government protests.

The former president stuck with the Raila Odinga-led coalition even after flunking the 2022 presidential election. 

His visit to Mwingi came at a time when the coalition is grappling with the question of Raila's succession ahead of the 2027 vote.

Kalonzo has been fronted as the feasible successor despite of other able principals like Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa.
