The body of Chiloba was found stashed in a metallic box in Uasin Gishu County.

The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has condemned the gruesome murder of Eldoret-based fashion designer and LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba.

In a statement on Friday, January 5, KHRC Executive Director Davis Malombe called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take swift action in investigating the murder.

Malombe demanded justice for Chiloba even as he called upon activists, the public and the media to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ community for the murder of the activist.

“We are saddened by the gruesome murder and death of Edwin Chiloba - a model, designer and queer activist. We stand strong and in complete solidarity with the LGBTIQ community and we join in their mourning.

“We demand that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations take swift and due action in investigating this murder, booking and prosecuting the perpetrators,” Malombe stated.

Chiloba's body was found stashed in a metallic box in Uasin Gishu County barely a week ago before it was positively identified on Friday, January 6.

The remains of the LGBTQ activist were discovered after a boda boda rider spotted a vehicle that had no number plate dropping the metal box along the Kipenyo - Kaptinga road.

The body was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting post-mortem to establish the cause of death as police continue their investigations.
