Details of Azimio's Must Attend Meeting at Stone Athi Resort

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga has convened what has been described as a must-attend meeting with his Parliamentary Group. 

Nairobi Leo has established that the two-day meeting is for all MPs affiliated with the Azimio coalition and will start on Thursday at Stoni Athi resort in Machakos county.

National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi confirmed the meeting and clarified that it has nothing to do with the State House meeting that President William Ruto had with 9 ODM MPs from Luo Nyanza.

"The meeting we have called for on Thursday is an Azimio parliamentary group meeting, it has got nothing whatsoever to do with what transpired in State House. That meeting is basically to take stock of where we are and prepare ourselves for the second schedule of the commencement of the National Assembly sessions," Opiyo Wandayi stated. 

He explained that the meeting will be key in guiding the Azimio Parliamentary group going forward even as they iron out in-house matters.

"We will be appraising ourselves on the gains we have made since elections and if possible the losses so that as we move forward in one accord. I encourage everyone to attend because it is going to be a very crucial meeting that happens once in a session of parliament," he said.

Opiyo has confirmed that already, a section of MPs have already sent in their apologies while an overwhelming number of members have confirmed their attendance.

After the meeting, the Azimio brigade is expected to address a major rally in Mavoko town in Machakos county — the fourth public engagement the coalition is holding to pile pressure on Ruto’s administration that it insists should resign.

The opposition has held three rallies in Kamkunji, Jacaranda, and Kibra in Nairobi.

From Machakos, the coalition will head to Busia on Sunday for another major political rally.
