Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki on Monday, November 28, made an impromptu visit to Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
In an update by the Interior Ministry, CS Kithure wanted a first-hand assessment of the security situation after the recent rise of insecurity in the capital.
"Interior CS Kithure Kindiki made an impromptu visit to Nairobi’s Central Business District for a first-hand assessment of the security situation. The visit follows major security interventions he announced two weeks ago to combat a surge in muggings, pickpocketing & other crimes.
"Traders and commuters who interacted freely with CS confirmed that safety and security had been restored in many of the streets enabling businesses and residents to operate without fear and for long hours," part of the statement by the Ministry of Interior read.
The CS warned that the few remaining criminals will be pursued to their hideouts and dealt with to position the city as truly open for business.
